Causes of Cognitive Impairment

Although the exact cause of cognitive impairment is not known exactly, the person's predisposition to Alzheimer's and dementia causes this disease. 

 

  • The following situations may also be the cause of cognitive impairment; 

  • Thyroid, kidney, or liver problems 

  • Depression, anxiety and stress 

  • Conditions that affect blood flow in the brain 

  • Vitamin B12 deficiency

Cognitive Disorder Diagnostic Methods

 

The diagnosis of cognitive disorder is made by neurology and psychiatry specialists. At this stage, it is very important to be accompanied by someone who knows and observes the patient closely.

People with Cognitive Disorder 
 

The incidence in people over the age of 65 is around 15-20%. People with cognitive impairment are likely to progress to Alzheimer and dementia. However, cognitive impairment may not always be progressive.
